Don’t Let Your Diet Be The Party Pooper!

Party Nutrition

A diet doesn’t mean the end of your social life!

So you’ve been doing great on your fat loss diet plan, staying the course throughout the whole week and seeing excellent results.

Then it happens. You get invited to a party where you know there will be plenty of delicious food options and anxiety begins to set in.  How will you ever stick to your diet now?

If you go in with a game plan, it doesn’t need to be as hard as it seems. Let’s go over some quick tips to help you do just that.

Eat Beforehand

You’ve likely heard this age-old trick and but it’s worth repeating… eat something before you go.

Nothing is going to send you flying off your diet faster than showing up to that party practically salivating for food.

Eat a light snack before you go – something with protein and fibre if possible as these two nutrients will help keep you feeling full.

This way, you’ll have more control over your hunger, which in return will give you more control over your food choices.

Decide What You Will Eat Ahead Of Time

The next planning move you need to make is try your best to decide ahead of time, if possible, what you will eat while there.

Choose one dish that you will indulge in so that you don’t end up feeling completely deprived.

If you don’t know what’s being served, when you get there, notice all the various food options and make your decision then.

Vow to eat this one food and keep the rest healthy.

This will help put you in a better frame of mind since you won’t feel quite so restricted.

Stand Away From The Food Tables

If the party is like a typical one where there is a food spread laid out for you to eat at your enjoyment, you’ll want to position yourself as far away from that food as possible.

Party Food

Staying away from the food table is the first step to maintaining a healthy diet

The closer you’re standing right to it, the easier it’ll be for you to quickly grab something to eat while you are talking with the other guests.

Plus, the further away from that food is, the easier it’ll be to put it out of mind.

If it’s sitting there staring right up at you, good luck saying no to all those delicious dishes your taste buds are craving.

Stay Hydrated

It’s also a must that you stay hydrated. Many people mistake hunger for thirst, so this could have you eating when you really just needed some water.

Which brings us to the next point – drink water.

Don’t overlook how many calories are found in some of the common beverages that are served, alcoholic or non, which will add up and can pack on the kilos just as fast, if not faster than food will.

Always opt for water or at the very least, alternate one other drink with a glass of water throughout the evening.

These are just a few of the top tips to help you stay committed to your diet plan at the next party you go to.

It’s all about having a plan going in, focusing on the company rather than the food, and doing damage control before you go so that you aren’t so hungry you want to eat everything in sight.

If you execute these steps, you should find that you can get through the party with your diet intact, all while enjoying yourself to the fullest.
